Add “you got it” to the list of server phrases that annoy me.

No problem
I hate servers at restaurants that use the phrase “no problem”. I realize that this may be my issue, but these servers annoy the piss out of me.
iPhone Migration II
I’m trying out an application that may solve the non-syncing notes issue with the iPhone. Evernote has client apps for Mac and iPhone along with web access. It can handle audio, photo, and text notes with lots of other features. Plus it’s free.
Palm to iPhone migration
One of the primary rationalizations for getting an iPhone is to replace three existing devices. The phone and iPod functions are easy, but the Palm PDA is more difficult.
Contacts and calendars are fine, but notes/memos are a challenge. The iPhone app doesn’t sync data with the Mac. Ugh.
One solution that I’m considering is to add a private wiki, blog, or forum to the website. The iPhone’s constant internet access makes this reasonable.
iPhone II
Trying out the WordPress iPhone app. So far, so good and it’s qucker than logging in through Safari.

Posting this from the mall using my new iPhone. Cool, eh?
Who would want this?
I heard a radio ad directed at anyone needing an idea for a Mother’s Day gift. Head on over to BigPlush.com and send Mom an 8-ft. tall teddy bear for the low, low price of $399 plus S/H.
Who in the world, mother or otherwise, would want a gargantuan 40 pound stuffed animal? Who would think that this is a good idea?
Tarot
You are the Hanged Man
Self-sacrifice, Sacrifice, Devotion, Bound.
With the Hanged man there is often a sense of fatalism, waiting for something to happen. Or a fear of
loss from a situation, rather than gain.
The Hanged Man is perhaps the most fascinating card in the deck. It reflects the story of Odin who offered himself as a sacrifice in order to gain knowledge. Hanging from the world tree, wounded by a spear, given no bread or mead, he hung for nine days. On the last day, he saw on the ground runes that had fallen from the tree, understood their meaning, and, coming down, scooped them up for his own. All knowledge is to be found in these runes.
The Hanged Man, in similar fashion, is a card about suspension, not life or death. It signifies selflessness, sacrifice and prophecy. You make yourself vulnerable and in doing so, gain illumination. You see the world differently, with almost mystical insights.

To England
I survived the flight, day 1, night 1, and day 2. Fairly painless overall. My traveling companions and I are the only guests at the Walnut Tree Inn. It’s pretty much what you might imagine an English inn and pub to be. Quaint and quirky.
The closest thing to real humor so far is that one of the guys in the meeting looks like Michael Palin dressed as some character with a Moe haircut and a moustache.
Sports notes
This time last year I wrote that the Cubs should hire Joe Girardi. They didn’t, but made the playoffs anyway. BTW, whenever I saw Lou Pinella in the dugout he looked like he’d just come off a three day bender. Anyway, Joe now has responsibility for the Yankees (sans A-Rod). Good luck to him.
The Redskins got pounded by the Patriots on Sunday. The score was 52-7 and it wasn’t even that close. Ugly, but I couldn’t stop watching. Joe Gibbs should have stayed away and kept his Hall of Fame image intact.
Kimi Raikkonen is the F1 champion, at least until McLaren’s appeal. It seems out of character for me, but I can’t help but like Ferrari.
The Hurricanes are off to a great start. It’s a long season (too long) but they’ve already been challenged by injuries and have still managed to win.
This upcoming Saturday holds an ironic pair of NCAA football games. The SEC East leading UT Vols play the Ragin’ Cajuns of LA-Lafayette, while the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles visit No. 22 Auburn. This is so wrong.
